The purpose of this page is to give you an idea of what to expect from the typical portrait session. We conduct portrait sessions in 4 phases. Each of these phases is described below with some of our policies along with tips that you can use to make sure the portrait session provides quality images that you will treasure for a lifetime.
Initial Contact
You will most likely either contact us by email or phone. During this initial contact, I will request a consultation meeting at a location convenient to you. Although you have probably already seen some of my work, I feel it is important that the client get to know the photographer. A good working relationship between the photographer and client, particulary between the photographer and parent of a child, is critical to getting the images that will be memorable. In this consultation, you will see a broader sampling of my work and a better understanding of my style. You will also get a full price guide for sitting fees and reprints. Should you choose to hire me, I will have a portrait session agreement to be signed, and we can work to schedule a date and location for the portrait session. We typically cover Camden County, Charlton County, and Glynn County in Georgia and Nassau County in Florida. However, if you are not in this area, call us as we may be able to accomodate you.
The sitting fee will be collected at this meeting. We will not hold dates until the sitting fee is paid.
The Portrait Session
This is where the magic occurs. We will spend one to two hours taking photographs. We do not shoot a set number of poses. This is casual/natural photography. The objective is to spend some time with the subject at a pleasing location to capture their inner self and their unique personality. I tend to provide some direction for to the subject, but mostly, I am trying to capture the real you. At the conclusion of this session, we will schedule a meeting (usually within about seven days) at which you will be able to see the proofs.
If weather does not cooperate, or for any other reason the portrait session needs to be rescheduled, you will not pay an additional sitting fee.
Proofing Session
At this meeting you will get to see the images in a wire bound proof book. I do not allow clients to take the proof book home with them, so it is advisable that you have everybody that would like an opportunity to order be present at this meeting. We will be happy to work with you on a meeting time that is appropriate. We also will be happy to schedule some additional meetings if some people need to see the proofs at a different time. If the combined orders for reprints exceeds $400, you will get the proof book as our complimentary gift. The proof book, itself, cannot be purchased, but you will get it free of charge, if you meet the minimum $400 print order. Fifty percent of the cost of reprint orders is due at the time of order with the remaining due upon delivery.
Delivery of Prints
After the proofing session, we will prepare the necessary images for printing and will call you when they arrive. Typically, prints will be available within about fourteen days of placing the order. We will arrange to deliver the prints to you. We can deliver them to your home, or we can arrange another appropriate place to meet.
